Research on democratic innovations is focused on successful methods of improving democratic governance and political structures. Such innovations are direct democratic tools and deliberative democratic tools such as deliberative polling and local participatory budgeting practices which can all take place offline and online as well. To understand better the complexity of the topic, it is important to carefully examine the functioning and mechanisms of democratic innovation. The goal of the roundtable is to organize a discussion between researchers and doctoral students of democratic innovations.
