New Publication: Does attending to extremely poor clients increase the burnout of social workers?

Marianna Kopasz and her co-authors Ágnes Győri, Ildikó Husz and Márton Medgyesi published their study "Does attending to extremely poor clients increase the burnout of social workers?" in the European Journal of Social Work. The article examines how attending to extremely poor clients contributes to burnout among social workers working in family and child welfare services in Hungary. The research found that attending to clients living in extreme poverty is not associated with higher levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation than attending to less poor clients. However, exposure to extreme poverty increases burnout among social workers through lower levels of personal performance.
