Ana Stojilovska (CSS Institute for Political Science) and Lea Kőszeghy (CSS Institute for Sociology) presented the good practices for tackling transport poverty in Hungary at the webinar on Good practices for addressing transport poverty in Central and Eastern Europe, which took place on the 11th of December, organized by Focus as part of the Transport poverty project, and funded by the European Climate Foundation. The webinar highlighted actionable strategies to reduce transport poverty in the region. It included an address by Carlo de Grandis from the European Commission who gave insights into the preparation process of the Social Climate Plans. The event promoted the publication of a booklet of successful initiatives from Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, and Croatia. Kőszeghy Lea presented the work of the Hungarian team which detailed demand-responsive transport initiatives, including BKK Telebusz in Budapest and the ZERGE pilot in Zalaegerszeg, which improved access to underserved urban and suburban areas. Additionally, it showcased the Village and Homestead Guardian Service, a rural program ensuring access to essential services and transport for small village residents, enhancing community well-being despite capacity challenges.
