Csaba Molnár wins the 2025 Aurél Kolnai Prize

Csaba Molnár has been awarded the 2025 Aurél Kolnai Prize. This honour, given for the most outstanding political science publication of the year, was presented to our Institute's Research Fellow at the 30th Annual Conference of the Hungarian Political Science Association (HPSA) for his book "The Weight of Weightlessness" ("A súlytalanság súlya").

The Aurél Kolnai Prize is awarded annually by the HPSA to the author of the best Hungarian-language political science publication from the previous calendar year. The subtitle of Csaba Molnár's award-winning book is The Impact of the Opposition on Legislation Through the Example of the Hungarian Radical Right. The book explores the question of whether it is meaningful to examine the role of the opposition in governance. Its central claim is that even opposition operating under the most unfavorable conditions can influence government decision-making, and that although unevenly distributed, both governance and opposition are shared among the actors of the political system. The book's findings help readers gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between government and opposition in Hungary and beyond.

The Aurél Kolnai Prize was awarded at the 30th Annual Conference of the HPSA, hosted by the HUN-REN CSS Institute for Political Science. The award ceremony took place during the event's opening, followed by a keynote lecture from the laureate. Congratulations to Csaba Molnár on his outstanding achievement!
